The Trump Taj Mahal Hotel Casino Resort (now known as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City) is the Casino & Hotel owned by Hard Rock International in Atlantic City, New Jersey United States.

The casino (Trump Taj Mahal) was inaugurated by Donald Trump in the year 1990, and he proudly called it the 8th wonder of the world. It was claimed to be the largest casino in the world (with around 120,000 square foot gaming space). It was built at the cost of around US$1.2 billion. In 2013, the hotel opened the country’s first casino strip club featuring scantily clad dancers.

Brief History

After running for a long time (the year 1990 to 2016), Trump Entertainment reached the verge of bankruptcy. Then a billionaire Carl Icahn saved the Taj by financing with $20 million. By this time, the company had become a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises. However, in the year 2016, Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino was shut down, and in March 2017, Hard Rock International bought the Taj for four cents on the dollar at $50 million and renovated it. Since then, its name had been changed to The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Hard Rock Era- 2017 to Present

After successfully acquiring the casino and resort, the Hard Rock in the year 2018 announced a plan to launch both online and retail book. Unfortunately, in the year 2019, The Scores nightclub and Robert’s Steakhouse got officially closed down.

Famous Attractions

There are two major attractions of The Taj. The first one is Steel Pier and another one is the Hard Rock Live.

The Steel Pier is a 300-meter long amusement park, built-in 1898 on a pier of the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was known for featuring concerts, and exhibitions till the first seven decades of the Twentieth century. Trump Entertainment acquired the ownership of the pier and opened it in the year 1992 and featured amusement rides only.

The Hard Rock Live (Formerly called Etess Arena) opened in 1990 as a multipurpose arena in Atlantic City. The Arena is based on the theme of the club scene in England and is known for featuring events and concerts. The arena was reopened in June 2018 to host concerts and events.
